iData Poll Results

Sociological company iData presented, at a press conference, the results of an electoral barometer conducted between August 20 and September 3, 2025. According to the poll, if parliamentary elections had been held at that time, four political formations would have entered Parliament: the Patriotic Bloc — 36% (42 seats), the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) — 34.7% (40 seats), Our Party — 8.4% (10 seats), and the Alternative Bloc — 7.9% (9 seats).

PSDE Team Meets with ENEMO Mission

The team of the European Social Democratic Party (PSDE) met with representatives of the International Election Observation Mission of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO), who were in the Republic of Moldova to monitor the September 28, 2025 parliamentary elections.

“Moldoveni” Alliance Initiative

The “Moldoveni” Alliance announced at a press conference that it had prepared a legislative initiative to establish a National Agency for the Rehabilitation of Aquatic and Forest Ecosystems. The proposed institution would address the country’s water deficit and extensive deforestation, which the alliance described as the main problems facing Moldova’s ecosystems.

Sanction Against Ion Ceban

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) issued a warning to Ion Ceban, a candidate on the electoral list of the Alternative Electoral Bloc, for violating the Electoral Code provision requiring him to suspend his activities in his official position from the beginning of the electoral campaign.

The decision was taken while examining a complaint filed by PAS.

At the same meeting, the CEC examined and rejected two complaints filed by the Alternative Electoral Bloc and the Patriotic Electoral Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Heart of Moldova and Moldova’s Future. The complaints concerned the redistribution of a post published on the official Facebook page of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ireland.

Printing of Ballots Begins

The Central Electoral Commission began printing the ballots to be used for voting by correspondence in the parliamentary elections.

A total of 2,472 ballots were to be printed, all in Romanian. The largest number was to be sent to the polling station in the United States — 1,339 ballots, followed by Canada — 641, Sweden — 406, and Japan — 86.

SIS Anniversary

President Maia Sandu attended a ceremony marking the 34th anniversary of the establishment of Moldova’s state security institutions.

On the occasion, the head of state awarded distinctions to employees of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) in recognition of their professionalism and contribution to strengthening national security.

Boris Volosatîi’s Message

Boris Volosatîi, leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, addressed citizens, saying that the situation in the country was a direct result of governments that had betrayed people’s hopes.

Andrei Năstase’s Initiative

Independent candidate Andrei Năstase launched the National Pact for an Integrity, Efficient and Responsible Parliament, calling on all electoral contestants to undertake concrete commitments before citizens.

The key proposal was to reduce the number of MPs from 101 to 61, in line with the referendum held in February 2019.

Patriotic Bloc’s Electoral Program

The electoral platform of the Patriotic Electoral Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Heart of Moldova and Moldova’s Future was presented, with members of the bloc’s team taking part.

BEP leaders Igor Dodon, Irina Vlah, Vasile Tarlev and Diana Caraman presented the main priorities of the electoral program: social policy, the economy, strengthening statehood, and a foreign policy based on neutrality.

Socialists’ Protest

Representatives of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) held a protest outside the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, demanding the resignation of Minister Alexei Buzu.

The action was prompted by the minister’s use of offensive language toward citizens and by policies promoted by the ministry which, according to the protesters, had contributed to impoverishment and mass emigration.

A New Institution

The National Institute of Public Administration and Management (INAMP), subordinated to the State Chancellery, was established.

At a press conference dedicated to the creation of INAMP, the institute’s director, Veronica Butnaru, spoke about the mission and vision of the new institution.

Maia Sandu in Strasbourg

President Maia Sandu met with Moldovan citizens living in Strasbourg, France, and discussed the situation in the country and the parliamentary elections with them.

Alternative Bloc’s Program

The Alternative Bloc officially launched its Government Program, presented by one of the bloc’s leaders, Ion Ceban.

The document was developed following a six-month consultation campaign conducted in more than 300 localities across the north, south and center of the country, as well as among the diaspora.

BUN’s Appeal

The Union of the Nation Bloc (BUN), in the context of the parliamentary elections, issued an appeal to unionist voters, urging them to choose the European path.

Alexei Buzu’s Apology

Alexei Buzu, Minister of Labour and Social Protection, acknowledged that he had made a mistake by using the word “bâdlă” in an electoral speech during a meeting with voters. He apologized.

Irina Vlah’s Complaint

Irina Vlah, leader of the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova,” filed a complaint with the Central Electoral Commission requesting sanctions against Prime Minister Dorin Recean, a candidate on the PAS electoral list, for using his position and administrative resources for electoral purposes.

NAC Announcement

The National Anticorruption Center (NAC) announced the activation and availability of two telephone lines for receiving reports concerning electoral corruption, illegal financing of political parties, attempts to illegally influence voters, and other suspicious activities in the electoral context.

SIS Announcement

The Intelligence and Security Service announced that, in cooperation with its international partners, it had carried out continuous measures to prevent and investigate security risks threatening national interests and regional security.

As a result, Romanian authorities detained former SIS deputy director Alexandru Bălan, who was to be investigated for treason through the repeated transmission of state secrets.

Appeal to Electoral Contestants

People’s Advocate Ceslav Panico reiterated his position and called on electoral contestants and their representatives to keep their discourse within the bounds of respect for voters and to avoid any form of incitement to hatred or discrimination.

PRIM Warning

The Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” (PRIM), in a statement, warned the public that the General Inspectorate of Police (GPI) was allegedly preparing new provocations aimed at discrediting the party and that direct instructions had allegedly been issued at the highest level.

PLDM’s Request

The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) filed a motion seeking the recusal of the panel of judges of the Supreme Court of Justice.

The motion came after the same panel had previously examined an appeal by the Central Electoral Commission without summoning or hearing the parties. According to PLDM, this was contrary to the provisions of the Administrative Code, which require the court to ensure adversarial proceedings when grounds concerning the clarification of case law or the assessment of evidence are invoked.

Large-Scale Operation by Authorities

The National Anticorruption Center and prosecutors from Balti municipality carried out more than 60 searches across the Republic of Moldova on September 7 and 8 as part of a large-scale operation targeting alleged illegal financing of political parties, electoral corruption and aggravated money laundering.

Fifteen people were detained for 72 hours.

Our Party–PAS Scandal

Our Party accused the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) of removing its newspapers from people’s gates following an incident in a locality in Șoldănești district.
