During the night of September 2, 2026, at around 2:36 a.m., a patrol from the Tudora Border Police Sector reported hearing a sound resembling that of a missile in its area of responsibility. At 2:38 a.m., border police officers heard a loud explosion. The sound was also heard by a patrol from the Caplani Border Police Sector, in the direction of Crocmaz (Republic of Moldova) – Iaski (Ukraine), reports TRIBUNA.

At the same time, Ukrainian authorities reported that an air-raid alert was in effect in the area mentioned above. According to the information available at the time, no overflight of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova had been recorded.

Between 2:50 and 3:13 a.m., the Tudora Border Police Sector patrol checked the area. During the initial investigation, no suspicious objects or fires were detected.

Later, at 3:24 a.m., the Eastern Regional Directorate received information that a person traveling toward the village of Olănești had reportedly heard a loud explosion on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.

At 3:26 a.m., the Olănești Border Police Sector was informed, and a patrol was dispatched to the area to inspect the territory and search for any fragments or objects that may have resulted from the incident. Employees of the Ștefan Vodă Police Inspectorate also joined the search effort after receiving reports from local residents through the single emergency service 112.

At around 7:10 a.m., border police officers from the Olănești Border Police Sector discovered, in the area outside the built-up limits of Crocmaz village, approximately six kilometers from the state border, a section of burned land, as well as fragments of metal and plastic.

Specialized units are heading to the scene and will take the necessary measures to establish all the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Border Police, together with the other authorities, are continuously monitoring the situation in order to manage it and are maintaining contact with the relevant authorities in Ukraine.

Citizens who hear sounds characteristic of drones or explosions are urged to remain calm, take shelter in a safe place inside their homes, and follow only information issued by the authorities.

People are also asked not to approach any possible remnants of aircraft, ammunition, or other unknown objects and to immediately notify the authorities via the 112 emergency service.
