Throughout September, Parliament will organize a series of activities dedicated to democracy, civic education, participation and dialogue with citizens. The programme includes guided tours, discussions with MPs, civic education activities, creative workshops, thematic exhibitions and interactive events organized in the context of International Day of Democracy, reports TRIBUNA.

An important part of the programme is dedicated to pupils and students, who will have the opportunity to learn more about democracy and how Parliament works in an interactive way. They will take part in a “Democracy Hour,” legislative simulation exercises, games and other educational activities. Children will also be invited to participate in a creative workshop, where they will illustrate democracy and Parliament. All citizens visiting Parliament will be invited to leave concrete proposals for strengthening democracy in a special suggestion box.

This month will also see the sixth edition of the educational game “LAW for YOU(ng people).” In addition, Parliament will host the launch of the ninth edition of the national programme “Under Guguță’s Cap,” organized by the Intellectual Games Association of the Republic of Moldova.

On Saturday, September 12, the square in front of Parliament will host the gala concert of the Patriotic Music Festival “I Sing of You, Homeland and Nation,” bringing together artistic ensembles and performers from across the country selected through a nationwide competition.

The programme also includes activities in the regions, aimed at bringing information about Parliament’s role and work closer to citizens. In Comrat and Taraclia, information sessions and discussions with young people will be organized, including on democracy, civic participation and Parliament’s role in Moldova’s accession process to the European Union.

The programme of activities dedicated to parliamentary openness has been organized annually by Parliament since 2017. The initiative is dedicated to International Day of Democracy, observed on September 15, after the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution in 2007 promoting the importance of democracy and democratic values worldwide.
