(ONE YEAR AGO) CEC Decisions

TRIBUNA continues its project presenting the political events that took place exactly one year ago. This time, we invite you to remember what happened on August 23, 2025.

PSDE – in Edineț and Rîșcani

The leadership and members of the European Social Democratic Party (PSDE) met with residents of the Edineț and Rîșcani districts.

Politicians – at festivals

President of the Respect Moldova Movement, Marian Lupu, together with the party’s vice-presidents, Radu Burduja and Igor Curov, as well as other party colleagues, participated in the Carpet Festival in the village of Gaidar, ATU Gagauzia.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu participated in the “Mileștii Mici Cultural Heritage – Treasure of Romanian Culture” Festival, a celebration that brought together hundreds of people from both banks of the Prut.

Visit of the Prime Minister of Romania

Prime Minister of Romania Ilie Bolojan paid an official visit to the Republic of Moldova. He was welcomed at the Leușeni-Albița border crossing by Prime Minister Dorin Recean, with whom he held a meeting, followed by a joint press conference.

Later, the officials attended the fifth edition of the “National Heritage” Festival, held in the village of Horești, Ialoveni district, and visited the village of Bardar, where they spoke with residents.

The Romanian Prime Minister also met with President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.

Parliament building illuminated

On the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, the Parliament building was illuminated in the colors of the Ukrainian flag — blue and yellow — as a sign of solidarity with the neighboring country.

Marking the 34th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu sent a congratulatory message to the Ukrainian people.

CEC decisions

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) registered 57 candidates for the position of Member of Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on the list of the “Moldoveni” Alliance Party.

At the same time, the Commission rejected the application to register the list of parliamentary candidates submitted by the “For People, Nature and Animals” Party. CEC also rejected the application to register the list of parliamentary candidates submitted by the “Moldova Mare” Party.

Maia Sandu’s message

On the 86th anniversary of the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, President Maia Sandu issued a message stating that “this lesson of history is more relevant than ever — because today too we see attempts to redraw borders by force.”

Meetings of BEP leaders

In Bălți, leaders of the Patriotic Electoral Bloc of Socialists, Communists, Inima Moldovei and Viitorul Moldovei — Igor Dodon, Irina Vlah, Vasile Tarlev and Diana Caraman — met with territorial organizations from the municipality and the districts of Glodeni, Sîngerei and Fălești.

In Chișinău, the Bloc’s leaders held a meeting with activists from the capital’s municipal organizations, while in Anenii Noi they met with representatives of the district’s territorial organizations.

Reaction of the “Moldova Mare” Party

The “Moldova Mare” Party reacted to the Central Electoral Commission’s refusal to register the party for the parliamentary elections. The party described the decision as “illegal, subjective and discriminatory.”

PDMM appeal

The Modern Democratic Party of Moldova (PDMM) sent an appeal to diplomatic missions and international observers accredited in the Republic of Moldova, including the Embassy of the United States, the Delegation of the European Union in Chișinău, and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, regarding what it called “abuses by state institutions against the party’s founder, Vladimir Cebotari.”

Dmitri Torner’s letter

Dmitri Torner, leader of the “Noua Opțiune Istorică” (NOI) Party, sent an open letter to President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean, requesting the suspension of official visits by European officials to the Republic of Moldova during the electoral campaign.
