The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization announced that industry remains one of the pillars of the national economy, with this year’s results showing positive growth in the sector. In the first six months of 2026, industrial production in the Republic of Moldova increased by 7.9% compared with the same period last year, reports TRIBUNA.
The growth was mainly driven by the manufacturing industry, where production increased by 7%, as well as by the energy sector, which recorded a 14.2% increase.
The most significant increases in manufacturing were recorded in:
metal structures and metal products — +43.7%
textile industry — +17.1%
food industry — +14.6%
furniture industry — +11.4%
clothing industry — +4.3%
Significant growth was also recorded in the production of capital goods, at +16.5%, as well as in the durable goods industry, at +12.9%.
In the energy sector, approximately 53% of total electricity consumption was covered by domestic production, while 60.6% of the electricity generated came from renewable energy sources.
