The Prime Minister thanked the UN agencies for the support provided to the Republic of Moldova

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan held a meeting with Yeşim Oruç, United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Moldova. The discussions focused on the main areas of cooperation between the country and the UN, as well as priorities established for the upcoming period, TRIBUNA reports.

The Prime Minister thanked the UN agencies for the support provided to the Republic of Moldova and for their contribution to the country’s development, support for reforms, and advancement along the path of European integration.

During the discussions, the parties highlighted the importance of continuing cooperation on sustainable development, strengthening the country’s resilience, consolidating institutions, and improving the quality of public services.

The officials also discussed areas where cooperation between the Government and UN agencies could be deepened, including support for vulnerable groups, assistance to refugees, and other areas in which the Organization’s expertise and programs can be leveraged.

An important topic of the meeting was the development of the future Republic of Moldova–UN Cooperation Framework for the period 2028–2032. The parties discussed the need for the future document to reflect the country’s development priorities and the Republic of Moldova’s objectives for the coming years.

Currently, cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the UN is carried out under the 2023–2027 Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
