Nick Pietrowicz’s Meeting with Renato Usatîi

Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America in Chișinău, Nick Pietrowicz, met with the leader of the “Our Party,” Renato Usatîi, as part of the Embassy’s regular dialogue with political parties from across the political spectrum ahead of the parliamentary elections in September.

Vladimir Bolea’s Announcement

Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea announced the results of the 2024 call for regional development project proposals, approved by the National Council for the Coordination of Regional and Local Development. Following the evaluation of 205 concept notes submitted, 87 projects were selected for funding from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development.

Andrei Năstase’s Package

Independent parliamentary candidate Andrei Năstase presented a comprehensive package of measures aimed at Moldovan citizens living abroad, designed to strengthen the ties between the Diaspora and the country. The proposals included tax incentives, investment programs, support for returning to Moldova, and direct civic participation.

2,606 Registrations for Voting by Mail

The Central Electoral Commission announced that the registration process for voting by mail had ended on August 14, 2025, at 23:59:59 local time in the host countries.

According to data on the platform vpc.cec.md, a total of 2,606 people had registered to vote by mail: Australia — 57; Canada — 682; Iceland — 38; Japan — 14; New Zealand — 7; Kingdom of Norway — 109; Kingdom of Sweden — 166; Republic of Korea — 13; Republic of Finland — 121; United States of America — 1,399.

CEC Members Meet with OSCE Observers

Members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) held an introductory meeting with representatives of the OSCE/ODIHR mission for the observation of the September 28, 2025 parliamentary elections.

Two New Electoral Competitors

At its meeting, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) registered two electoral competitors for participation in the parliamentary elections.

The list of 55 candidates for seats in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova submitted by the Moldovan National Party and the list of 64 candidates submitted by the European Social Democratic Party were registered.

The party leaderships issued statements saying that they were coming with professional teams and would conduct an honest campaign.

At the same CEC meeting, the application to register the list of candidates submitted by the “Renaștere” Party was examined. It did not receive the required number of votes for approval, and the matter was to be considered at a subsequent meeting of the Commission.

Victoria Sanduța Submitted the Signatures

The Central Electoral Commission received the documents and signature sheets collected by Victoria Sanduța, a potential independent candidate for a seat in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in the September 28, 2025 parliamentary elections.

The CEC preliminarily assigned the independent candidate position No. 17 on the ballot.

Eighth National Round Table

The “Moldovans” Alliance organized its eighth national round table. It was dedicated to the topic: “The Reintegration of Moldova and National Security.”

The invited experts and speakers presented comprehensive solutions aimed at restoring territorial integrity, strengthening statehood, and ensuring sustainable development of the Republic of Moldova.

Protest Against the PAS Dictatorship

The Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” held a protest outside the headquarters of the governing party, the Party of Action and Solidarity.

The message conveyed by the protesters was: “PAS will go down in history as a group of criminals that turned Moldova into a poor dictatorship in the heart of Europe.”

Police Appeal

The National Police issued a warning to citizens concerning the intentions of the “Șor” Organization to organize an alleged “protest” outside the legal framework.

The Police urged the public not to respond to illegal invitations and not to become involved in the commission of criminal offenses or contraventions.

12th Edition of the Diaspora Congress

President Maia Sandu attended the 12th edition of the Diaspora Congress, an event that brought thousands of Moldovans home from all over the world every August.

The President delivered a speech in which she spoke about measures and projects approved for the diaspora.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu also delivered speeches at the “European Integration” panel of the Congress.

Request from Tiraspol

The unrecognized legislative body in Tiraspol published a statement calling for the opening of 41 polling stations for citizens of the Republic of Moldova from the Transnistrian region for the parliamentary elections in the autumn.

The document was to be sent, among others, to the Parliament in Chișinău.
