Vasile Tofan again criticizes official travel: “A visit to India, to a region where there are beautiful beaches…”

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan once again criticized official trips by government officials and civil servants at the beginning of today’s Government meeting. The head of government said that, despite his request that only truly necessary trips be submitted for approval in order to reduce unjustified expenses, he continues to receive requests that do not correspond to the government’s priorities, TRIBUNA reports.

“There are still a number of requests coming in that do not correspond to our priorities,” the prime minister emphasized.

Vasile Tofan also cited several examples of costly trips whose necessity he questioned:

Example 1: A state secretary — a seven-day visit to India, plus another two days of travel — to a region where there are also beautiful beaches.

Example 2: A visit to Mongolia — a trip that takes a long time and is costly.

Example 3: Two state secretaries — a visit to Italy. The prime minister noted that it would have been sufficient to send one official.
