During the First Regular Session of 2026, Parliament Convened for 30 Sessions, Lasting More Than 220 Hours in Total, TRIBUNA Reports.

During the plenary sessions, MPs examined and adopted 177 legislative acts, including 127 laws and 50 resolutions. Of the laws adopted, 35 were aimed at harmonizing national legislation with that of the European Union. Of all the acts adopted, 69 concerned amendments and additions to existing legislation, 27 were framework laws, 26 concerned the ratification of agreements, while another five concerned the denunciation or withdrawal from agreements.

According to statistical data, during the first regular session of 2026, 291 legislative initiatives were submitted for registration in Parliament. Most of them — 180 — were submitted by MPs, 84 by the Government, 26 by the President of the Republic of Moldova, and one by the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia.

Of the legislative initiatives submitted by MPs, the parliamentary faction of the Party of Action and Solidarity submitted 83 bills, the faction of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova — 27, the “Our Party” faction — 18, the “Democracy at Home” faction — 12, the faction of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova — 9, and the “Alternative” parliamentary faction — 5 legislative initiatives. The Permanent Bureau submitted six legislative initiatives, while another 20 bills were signed by MPs from different parliamentary factions.

During the first regular session of the current year, members of Parliament’s Permanent Bureau held 28 meetings. At these meetings, 11 resolutions were approved and another 14 issues related to Parliament’s activities were considered. These included Parliament’s Legislative Program for 2026, the Ex-Post Evaluation Plan for legislative acts for the current year, the Communication Strategy of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova for 2026–2029, and the Nomenclature of Files of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.

Under the Rules of Procedure of Parliament, the legislature convenes in two regular sessions each year. The first session begins in February and may not extend beyond the end of July, while the second session begins in September and may not extend beyond the end of December. Outside the regular sessions, Parliament may convene in an extraordinary or special session at the request of the President of the Republic of Moldova, the Speaker of Parliament, or one-third of the MPs.
