Maia Sandu: The Safety of Our People Is the State’s First Duty. That Is Why We Are Prioritizing Investments in Airspace Surveillance and Defense Capabilities

President Maia Sandu said that “our airspace has been violated several times over the years. Russia’s war against Ukraine directly affects us. Russia is the one waging this war of aggression and bears full responsibility for the danger brought to the homes of our people,” TRIBUNA reports.

The president noted that yesterday, in Crocmaz, Ștefan Vodă District, a drone-missile-type aircraft fell and exploded. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but several households were affected. The authorities responded promptly, and investigations are ongoing.

“In the context of this brutal war on our doorstep, the safety of our people is the state’s first duty. That is why we are prioritizing investments in airspace surveillance and defense capabilities, and we are working together with our partners to obtain the most effective means of protection.

And that is why we continue to stand with Ukraine. The resistance of the Ukrainian people protects us as well. Defending our country and supporting Ukraine are part of the same effort to restore peace in our region,” the head of state added.
