Our Party Files Complaint with the European Public Prosecutor's Office, Calls for Investigation into the Use of EU Funds in the Republic of Moldova

The parliamentary faction of Our Party has announced that it has submitted a complaint to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO), requesting an investigation into how European Union funds were used in the Republic of Moldova during the 2021–2026 period, TRIBUNA reports.

In a statement made before the Parliament’s plenary session, Our Party Chairman Renato Usatîi said that the complaint concerns the possible fraudulent use of EU financial assistance and the potential damage to the European Union’s financial interests.

The party leader recalled that there had previously been suspicions regarding procurements in the energy sector during the state of emergency, including fuel oil imports, as well as other situations that, in his view, require verification.

Renato Usatîi noted that, at the beginning of July, Our Party proposed the establishment of a parliamentary commission of inquiry to examine how funds received from development partners had been spent, but the initiative was not supported by PAS.

According to him, the complaint submitted to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office is not an accusation but rather a request to investigate specific areas, including the use of EU funds, public procurement, the energy sector, infrastructure projects, and other programs financed by external partners.

“We are not asking for anyone to be convicted, nor are we making definitive accusations. If the investigation shows that the funds were used lawfully, this will strengthen confidence in the state’s institutions. However, if violations of the law or acts of corruption are identified, those responsible must be held accountable, regardless of their political affiliation,” Renato Usatîi stated.
