Ion Ceban: "No Matter What They Do—Suspend Me, Jail Me, Drag Me Through the Streets—We Will Complete Every Project"

Chișinău Mayor Ion Ceban has responded to reports suggesting that he could be suspended from his position as mayor of the Moldovan capital for one year, TRIBUNA reports.

“Someone has filed a court case seeking to suspend the mayor… Yes, they are doing everything they can to attack me personally, as well as my team. Yes, they steal millions, yet they come looking for problems at Chișinău City Hall. Let them investigate—we are fully cooperative. They are trying from every direction to harm me because Chișinău City Hall enjoys the highest level of public trust in the country, thanks to your confidence and because we deliver results.

I want to assure you that no matter what they do—whether they suspend me, imprison me, or drag me through the streets—we will see every project through to completion. We have built a system that ensures all our commitments will be fulfilled,” Ceban said.

The mayor also stated that more projects are currently being implemented in Chișinău than in previous years.

“Chișinău is in its strongest financial position ever—this morning, the city’s accounts held 1.1 billion lei.

We also have the largest portfolio of projects with international partners and donors, worth 4.5 billion lei. These are complex projects that are unmatched elsewhere in the country,” the official added.
