Moldova and Türkiye Launch Negotiations on a New Cooperation Protocol

The Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Türkiye have launched negotiations on a cooperation protocol setting out the general terms and conditions for development cooperation. The Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy has approved the negotiation and signing of the document, TRIBUNA reports.

The cooperation protocol will establish the legal and institutional framework necessary for implementing development projects and programs in the Republic of Moldova with the support of the Turkish side through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).

Cooperation will focus on priority areas including economic development, agriculture and the agri-food industry, infrastructure, energy, environmental protection, education, healthcare, and culture. The protocol also provides for strengthening institutional capacities and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The document will replace a similar agreement signed in 2015, which is set to expire in November 2026. The new protocol will be concluded for an initial period of five years, with the possibility of automatic renewal for successive terms.
