Members of the new Government, led by Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, took the oath of office today before President Maia Sandu during a ceremony held at the Presidential Office, TRIBUNA reports.

In her address, the President emphasized the responsibility facing the new Cabinet at a decisive stage for the Republic of Moldova, marked by the need to accelerate the country’s European integration, stimulate economic growth, and strengthen security and the rule of law.

“The agenda is clear—we must continue aligning the Republic of Moldova with European standards. Over the next few months, we have important milestones to achieve in the European integration process. In the coming weeks and months, we must also complete several reforms with major impact,” the President said.

Maia Sandu stressed that the new Government must deliver on its ambitious economic commitments.

“We have heard big promises regarding economic growth, improving the business environment, better management of public assets, and more effective absorption of European funds. We ask you to keep your word,” she stated.

The President also underlined that implementing reforms must go hand in hand with strengthening the state’s ability to protect its citizens.

“We must focus on the safety of our citizens and the security of the state. This requires sustained efforts to strengthen institutions responsible for defence, security, public order, justice, energy security, and to build the resilience of society as a whole.”

Maia Sandu also highlighted sectors that directly affect citizens’ well-being.

“People are our country’s most important resource. That is why we place particular emphasis on education, culture, healthcare, social protection, and, of course, environmental policies,” she said.

Concluding her remarks, the President expressed confidence that the Government would achieve its objectives despite the increasingly challenging regional and international environment.

“The agenda is very ambitious, expectations are high, and it is clear that all of this must be accomplished in a regional and international context that is becoming increasingly complex. I personally have full confidence that, together with Parliament and with the support of the Presidency, this Government will succeed,” the President concluded.
