Tofan Government to Seek Vote of Confidence Today

Parliament will convene today at 11:00 a.m. in a plenary session to examine the Government’s program of activity and vote on whether to grant a vote of confidence to the new Cabinet of Ministers, including its proposed composition, TRIBUNA reports.

On July 11, 2026, President Maia Sandu nominated Vasile Tofan, the candidate put forward by the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), for the office of Prime Minister following consultations with the parliamentary factions.

Vasile Tofan subsequently presented the composition of his Cabinet and the Government’s program.

Under Moldovan law, Parliament grants a vote of confidence to the Government by a majority vote of the elected members of Parliament. Once Parliament approves the Government, the President of the Republic of Moldova formally appoints it.

According to the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, the Government is responsible for implementing the country’s domestic and foreign policy and exercises the general leadership of the public administration. In carrying out its responsibilities, the executive is guided by the Government Program approved by Parliament.
