UNICEF Appoints a New Representative in the Republic of Moldova

State Secretary Corina Călugăru held a meeting with the newly appointed Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the Republic of Moldova, Deyana Georgieva Kostadinova, TRIBUNA reports.

During the meeting, the two officials reviewed the multifaceted cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and UNICEF, focusing on the promotion and protection of children’s rights, support for vulnerable families, and assistance for refugee children from Ukraine.

State Secretary Corina Călugăru praised the long-standing partnership between the Republic of Moldova and UNICEF, highlighting the organization’s valuable contribution to strengthening the child protection system, developing social and family services, promoting deinstitutionalization, and ensuring children’s access to inclusive, high-quality education and healthcare services.

In this context, the official emphasized that investing in children and families is a priority for the country’s sustainable development and societal resilience. She also reaffirmed the Moldovan authorities’ commitment to strengthening cooperation with UNICEF to ensure the well-being of every child.

At the conclusion of the meeting, State Secretary Corina Călugăru congratulated Deyana Georgieva Kostadinova on assuming her mandate as UNICEF Representative in the Republic of Moldova and reaffirmed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ support for the organization’s work in promoting and protecting children’s rights and expanding development opportunities for all children in the Republic of Moldova.
