The Republic of Moldova is taking another important step on its European path: today, we are opening accession negotiations on Cluster 6 “External Relations” during the Third Intergovernmental Conference between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union. The statement was made by Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi, TRIBUNA reports.

The official said that, for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the opening of Cluster 6 is of particular importance, as it coordinates the entire Chapter 31, “Foreign, Security and Defence Policy,” and oversees the component on international development cooperation and humanitarian assistance under Chapter 30, “External Relations.”

“Progress in these areas confirms that the Republic of Moldova is strengthening its capacity to assume, in the future, the responsibilities of a member state of the European Union,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Mihai Popșoi also noted that every reform implemented brings Moldova closer to European standards and delivers tangible benefits for its citizens.
