PSRM will not participate in consultations at the Presidency. Igor Dodon: “What is the point if they are purely formal?”

The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) will not take part in the consultations on nominating a new Prime Minister announced by President Maia Sandu, TRIBUNA reports.

Igor Dodon, the party’s leader, stated that the consultations “are purely formal and meant only to mimic respect for the Constitution.”

“What is the point of participating in consultations at the Presidency if everyone understands they are purely formal? The Party of Socialists will not play the hypocritical game of the government. PAS holds absolute monopoly over all state institutions and controls the parliamentary majority. Let them choose a new prime minister themselves — if they find someone naïve or overly ambitious enough to accept becoming the next sacrifice of the regime.”

Dodon argued that citizens no longer trust PAS or any government voted by PAS. According to him, people want early parliamentary elections to reset the political system and eliminate “the dictatorship of a single party.”

He added that citizens seek early elections to escape poverty, corruption, inflation, high prices, fear, phone scams, and disorder in public safety.

“Only through early elections is real change possible. Immediately after early parliamentary elections, in the new political configuration, we Socialists will be ready to assume responsibility. We will propose our candidate for Prime Minister, who will come with a team of professionals, a realistic program to save the country, and solid experience in state administration.”

Dodon also criticized individuals who, in his view, aspire to become prime minister under PAS governance: “Do not be deceived by the naïve ideas written on paper by those who dream of becoming prime minister under PAS. They think governing a country means imitating radicals and populists from abroad. They have no idea what real work in the field means as head of government. Practice shows that every PAS government is worse than the previous one. People feel this, do not trust any false candidate, and demand early elections.”
