President Maia Sandu held a phone conversation yesterday with the President of the European Council, António Costa, to discuss the progress of the Republic of Moldova’s accession process to the European Union and preparations for the EU–Moldova Summit scheduled for June 22, TRIBUNA reports.
The two leaders welcomed the decision on the imminent opening of the first cluster of negotiation chapters. President Maia Sandu reiterated that the Republic of Moldova is ready to open all chapter clusters and continues to implement the reforms necessary to become a member state of the European Union, within a merit-based accession process.
The officials also reviewed the priorities on the agenda of the upcoming EU–Moldova Summit, a regular format agreed upon by both sides that reflects their strong commitment to the European integration of the Republic of Moldova.
