The legal team of the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” submitted today a request to the Chișinău Court of Appeal, asking the court to examine the current legal status of the case concerning the restriction of the party’s activity and to revoke the precautionary measure applied to the formation, TRIBUNA reports.
Irina Vlah, the party’s leader, stated that the case of the Republican Party “Heart of Moldova” at the Court of Appeal must be closed.
“This case was initiated last autumn based on suspicions regarding alleged violations of legislation on party financing. Meanwhile, an extensive review carried out by the Central Electoral Commission over the past eight months did not confirm these suspicions. The results of the review show that the financial activity of the Republican Party ‘Heart of Moldova’ was conducted legally and transparently.
Under these circumstances, we believe that applying and further maintaining the measure restricting the party’s activity is not justified, and that there are grounds for its annulment, with the full restoration of the political formation’s rights and activity,” she emphasized.
The politician expressed hope that the Ministry of Justice will also take note of the conclusions of the Central Electoral Commission’s review and adopt a position consistent with the newly established circumstances.
“The Republican Party ‘Heart of Moldova’ hopes that this situation will be resolved within a reasonable timeframe, so that the formation can carry out its political activity under normal conditions, in accordance with the rights and guarantees provided by law,” Irina Vlah added.
