The General Mayor of Chișinău, Ion Ceban, is taking part these days in one of the world’s most important tourism events — the WTCF Beijing Fragrant Hills Tourism Summit 2026, held in Beijing, People’s Republic of China, under the theme “Smart Tourism, Promising Future”, TRIBUNA reports.
According to the Mayor, the event is organized by the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF), one of the most significant global cooperation platforms connecting cities and stakeholders in the tourism sector.
“During the summit, we are presenting Chișinău at the Global Mayors’ Dialogue – Beijing 2026, alongside mayors and local leaders from Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa. The discussions focus on solutions for urban development and on harnessing tourism potential in the context of new technologies and global transformations in the tourism industry.
At the same time, I will hold several bilateral meetings with mayors, representatives of local administrations from various regions of the world, and representatives of international organizations,” he stated.
Ion Ceban added that the discussions aim to strengthen cooperation, exchange experience and best practices, and identify new partnership opportunities in areas such as urban development, tourism promotion, investment, and international projects of common interest.
“Participation in this event offers Chișinău an important platform for international promotion and contributes to strengthening relations with cities and organizations worldwide, supporting sustainable development and increasing the capital’s tourism attractiveness,” the General Mayor emphasized.
It is worth noting that Chișinău has been a member of the WTCF since 2022 and actively participates in the initiatives and activities promoted by this international organization.
