Moldova and Sweden Strengthen Cooperation for Integration into the European Union’s Internal Market

The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization of the Republic of Moldova and Sweden’s National Board of Trade (NBT) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation establishing the strategic framework for bilateral collaboration for the 2026–2028 period, in the context of Moldova’s European integration process.

The document aims to strengthen the institutional capacities required to implement reforms related to accession to the European Union, with a particular focus on the free movement of services and Moldova’s participation in the EU Internal Market.

Cooperation between the two institutions began in 2023 and has evolved into a structured partnership focused on supporting the process of legislative harmonization with the EU acquis, implementing Directive 2006/123/EC on services in the internal market, developing economic analysis mechanisms, and strengthening dialogue with the business community.

In the coming years, the partnership will support the implementation of the Roadmap for the application of Law No. 282/2024 on the freedom of establishment of service providers and the freedom to provide services. It will also contribute to the development of tools aimed at preventing the emergence of new barriers in the services sector, as well as strengthening capacities for evidence-based public policy development using economic data.

The signing of the Memorandum reflects the shared commitment of Moldova and Sweden to support the reforms necessary for the country’s integration into the European Union’s Internal Market, contributing to greater competitiveness of the national economy and the creation of a more predictable and business-friendly environment.
