Igor Dodon, President of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) and head of the PSRM parliamentary faction, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Moldova, Fern Horine, TRIBUNA reports.
During the discussion, the two sides exchanged views on political and socio‑economic developments in the Republic of Moldova, the regional situation, and prospects for strengthening Moldovan‑British dialogue.
Igor Dodon reiterated PSRM’s long‑standing position in favour of a balanced and pragmatic foreign policy focused on defending Moldova’s national interests, respecting the country’s sovereignty and neutrality, and maintaining constructive engagement with external partners.
He also drew attention to what he described as the deterioration of democratic standards in the Republic of Moldova under PAS governance, including pressure on the opposition, restrictions on freedom of expression, and the use of state institutions for political purposes.
In this context, Dodon stressed the importance of upholding democratic principles, political pluralism, and maintaining open dialogue among all political forces in the interest of Moldova’s stability and democratic development.
