President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, met with the International Monetary Fund mission visiting Chișinău between 7–20 May 2026, TRIBUNA reports.
The visit takes place at the request of Moldovan authorities as part of negotiations for a new agreement under the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI) — an IMF program without direct financing, designed for countries seeking the institution’s support in strengthening their macroeconomic and fiscal frameworks without contracting loans.
The President reaffirmed the Republic of Moldova’s commitment to an ambitious reform agenda, particularly in the areas of economic and fiscal policy, tax administration, financial stability, and the consolidation of the macroeconomic framework.
