President Maia Sandu today received the delegation of the Working Group on Enlargement and Countries Negotiating Accession to the EU. Known as COELA, the group is composed of representatives of EU member states responsible for monitoring progress in candidate countries and preparing decisions in the negotiation process. The visit takes place under the auspices of the Cypriot Presidency of the EU Council, TRIBUNA reports.
During the meeting, the President reaffirmed the Republic of Moldova’s firm commitment to advancing decisively on the path of reforms and European integration. She presented concrete progress in the country’s modernization, with a focus on justice reform, combating corruption, and aligning national legislation with European standards.
The Head of State also underlined that the Republic of Moldova is strengthening its role as an active and reliable partner of the European Union in the face of regional security threats, contributing to the stability and resilience of the entire region.
The COELA Working Group is the main coordination forum among EU member states within the Council on matters related to enlargement and accession negotiations.
