Igor Dodon claims political pressure in the handling of his case at the Supreme Court of Justice

Igor Dodon, MP and leader of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova, stated that during the four years in which his case has been examined by the Supreme Court of Justice, six judges have been replaced or have withdrawn. According to him, this situation reflects pressure on the judiciary and the reluctance of some judges to “execute a political order”.

Dodon said he was particularly surprised by the most recent development, when one of the judges withdrew from the panel citing pressure. He and his lawyers requested clarification regarding the nature of the alleged pressure.

He also claimed that influence groups are forming within the justice system, referring to what he described as two individuals with significant impact on judicial reforms. Dodon alleged that these actors exert influence over key institutions and seek a conviction in his case to create a precedent.

The PSRM leader reiterated that, in his view, the case contains no evidence that would justify the accusations.
