The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the appointment of Dumitru Socolan as the institution’s Secretary General.
A career diplomat, Dumitru Socolan has over three decades of experience in the diplomatic service of the Republic of Moldova. Within the Ministry, he has held several senior positions, including Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the Portuguese Republic and the Kingdom of Morocco, later serving as Secretary of State, and most recently as Ambassador to Japan and the Republic of Korea.
He has also held leadership roles in the field of international law and treaties, as well as positions within the consular service, including at the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Frankfurt am Main.
His appointment reflects the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and promoting professionalism within the diplomatic service.
