Moldovan Parliament to host meetings of Euronest Parliamentary Assembly committees and Bureau

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova will host the meetings of the standing committees and the Bureau of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly. Delegations will be in Chișinău on 21–22 April 2026, TRIBUNA reports.

The opening session will take place on Wednesday, 22 April, starting at 10:30, in the Parliament’s plenary chamber. Opening remarks will be delivered by the Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, the head of Moldova’s delegation to Euronest PA, Adrian Băluțel, as well as the Euronest PA Co‑Presidents — Maria Karapetyan (representing the Eastern European Partners component – Armenia) and Sergey Lagodinsky (representing the European Parliament component).

On the margins of the event, several joint meetings of Euronest PA standing committees will be held. The Committee on Political Affairs, Human Rights and Democracy will discuss the security architecture of the Eastern Partnership, focusing on countering hybrid warfare, upholding the rule of law, ensuring electoral integrity, and strengthening the resilience of institutions and societies in Eastern Partnership countries, in the context of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and other regional conflicts.

Members of the Committee on Energy Security will address two main topics: improving the efficiency of energy flows, including hydrogen, and developing renewable energy markets in the Eastern Partnership region as a key investment for regional and European security and prosperity. Discussions will also cover the potential role of small modular reactors in enhancing energy security and independence in the region.

Meetings are also planned for the Committee on Economic Integration, Legal Approximation and Convergence with EU Policies, as well as the Committee on Social Affairs, Employment, Education, Culture and Civil Society. These discussions will focus on the importance of regional interconnectivity for Europe’s economic security and prosperity.

Delegation members to Euronest PA are scheduled to meet with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, the Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, and the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Iwona Piórko.

The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly was established on 3 May 2011 in Brussels, when the presidents of the parliaments of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and the European Union signed its Constituent Act. Its mission is to promote the conditions necessary for accelerating political association and economic integration between the EU and its Eastern European partners, strengthen regional cooperation, and enhance the visibility of the Eastern Partnership.
