The delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is participating in the Spring Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), taking place on 20–24 April 2026 in Strasbourg, France, TRIBUNA reports.

The delegation includes Deputy Speaker Doina Gherman, head of the national delegation to PACE Ion Groza, as well as members Veronica Roșca, Andrian Cheptonar, Natalia Davidovici, Renato Usatîi and Igor Dodon.

During the session, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi will deliver the traditional communication on behalf of Moldova’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and will take questions from PACE members.

The agenda features key topics such as the need to uphold international law, peace and stability in the wider Middle East, and strengthening accountability and justice through advancing efforts to establish a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

Other issues under examination include combating violence and hate speech against politicians, safeguarding freedom of religion and belief in Europe, and abolishing the death penalty under all circumstances. Debates will also address improving implementation of the Istanbul Convention by building on accumulated experience and promoting a culture of consent.

The session will conclude with the awarding ceremony of the Council of Europe Museum Prize 2026.

The Republic of Moldova holds the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe from 14 November 2025 to 15 May 2026. The country has been a member of the Council of Europe since 1995.
