Master Gheorghe Urschi died today. The President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu announced that the day of the funeral will be declared a national day of mourning, TRIBUNA reports.
“Today, the Republic of Moldova has lost a great artist — master Gheorghe Urschi. Entire generations grew up with his humor, performances, and monologues through which he brought light and truth to the stage. He made an entire country laugh, and now leaves it in tears.
Gheorghe Urschi always carried in his heart love for the people and the values that unite us. He spoke about our joys and struggles with sincerity and humor. A free spirit, yet deeply insightful, he brought people not only smiles but also hope.
Our country remains grateful for the joy he gave to generations through his talent. To honor the memory of Gheorghe Urschi, the day of the funeral will be declared a national day of mourning.
Condolences to the family and all who loved him. May he rest in peace,” the head of state said.
