“Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure are a war crime and an attack on all of us. Last night’s strikes disrupted Moldova’s main energy link with Europe,” President Maia Sandu stated, TRIBUNA reports.
The head of state added that alternative routes exist, but the situation remains fragile, and responsibility “lies solely with Russia.”
As a reminder, following last night’s attacks on the energy infrastructure in southern Ukraine, the Isaccea–Vulcănești power line has been disconnected. To maintain the electricity supply to the Republic of Moldova, throughout the night the transmission system operator Moldelectrica, in coordination with the transmission operators of Romania and Ukraine, activated alternative supply routes, including the four 110 kV interconnection lines between Romania and Moldova. The Isaccea–Vulcănești line remains disconnected, and inspection work is ongoing.
