The Republican Party “Inima Moldovei” has submitted official requests to the Ministry of Justice and the Court of Appeal, asking for the annulment of the measure that restricts the party’s activity. According to the party, the restriction has remained in force for nearly six months without the case being examined on its merits.
The party’s leadership refers to the recent position of the Venice Commission, noting that the conclusions of international experts are directly relevant to the situation. Party leader Irina Vlah stated that the Commission’s assessment reflects concerns about actions taken during the parliamentary elections, when candidates of “Inima Moldovei” were removed from the race.
According to the party, the Venice Commission highlighted the risks associated with amending the Law on Political Parties shortly before elections, as such changes may be used as a tool of political pressure on the opposition.
Irina Vlah emphasized that, in light of the Commission’s findings, the authorities should repeal the contested amendments, end politically motivated restrictions, and lift the measures currently imposed on the Republican Party “Inima Moldovei”.
