The General Mayor, Ion Ceban, convened today at 12:00 a meeting of the Chișinău Municipal Commission for Exceptional Situations, TRIBUNA reports.
“During the meeting, we discussed the situation on the Nistru River and the precautionary measures that must be taken if necessary,” the mayor emphasized.
The key decisions were:
- The Commission for Exceptional Situations will convene daily to hear reports from field specialists.
- Representatives of central authorities will be invited to each meeting to present up‑to‑date information.
The General Mayor added that the municipality supplies water to approximately 1 million citizens — about half of the country’s population.
“This is why we want to know the real situation — not from television, not from official letters, not from the panic intentionally stirred in society, and not when you send SIS representatives to us. Our specialists are currently taking daily water samples from the Nistru in various locations: Naslavcea, Cureșnița, up to the dam and beyond it, as well as from Vadul lui Vodă and Dubăsari. In two areas, protective dams have been built up to our water intake zone,” Ion Ceban concluded.
