Olesea Doronceanu has been appointed Deputy Ombudsperson for the remainder of the current mandate. Parliament adopted a draft decision confirming the appointment, TRIBUNA reports.
The appointment follows the resignation submitted by Oxana Gumennaia. Olesea Doronceanu has more than 20 years of professional experience in the field of human rights protection. She has also held a lawyer’s license for 18 years, during which she handled civil and criminal cases involving systematic human rights violations. She currently heads the Directorate for Petition Examination and Protection of Persons within the Office of the Ombudsperson.
According to the legislation, the Ombudsperson is assisted by two deputies, who hold positions of public dignity. They are appointed by Parliament, with the vote of the majority of MPs present, upon the Ombudsperson’s proposal.
