Mihai Popșoi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a phone conversation with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, TRIBUNA reports.
The discussion focused on recent developments in the Middle East, including the missile attacks launched by Iran against the United Arab Emirates and other states in the region, as well as their impact on regional security and stability. It was noted that the situation led to the temporary closure of the airspace, affecting the movement of foreign nationals, including Moldovan citizens currently in the UAE.
The Emirati minister expressed gratitude for the Republic of Moldova’s solidarity and firm stance in support of maintaining regional stability, emphasizing the importance of regional and international efforts to prevent further escalation.
Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi raised, as a priority, the situation of Moldovan citizens in the UAE. The Emirati side expressed full readiness to provide support to ensure their safety and to facilitate the management of the situation amid temporary air transport restrictions.
At the end of the conversation, the two ministers reaffirmed their interest in continuing dialogue and strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United Arab Emirates.
