President Maia Sandu met today with a delegation of the Lithuanian Parliament on an official visit to Chișinău. The delegation includes MPs Remigijus Motuzas and Audronius Ažubalis, members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, TRIBUNA reports.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and on the support Lithuania provides to the Republic of Moldova. The two parliamentarians reiterated the Vilnius legislature’s firm backing for Moldova’s EU accession process — a path Lithuania itself completed 20 years ago.
In the context of four years since Russia launched its full‑scale invasion of Ukraine, the meeting also addressed regional security, Ukraine’s remarkable resilience, and the importance of close cooperation among European states to reinforce democratic resilience. President Maia Sandu thanked the Lithuanian MPs for their consistent support, including at the European level. The interlocutors agreed to continue the political dialogue.
