The People’s Assembly of Gagauzia convened today in a plenary session. The draft decision regarding the approval of the new composition of the Comrat Electoral Commission was removed from the agenda, TRIBUNA reports.

It is worth noting that, at present, the organization of elections for the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia is blocked. The elections were scheduled to take place on 22 March this year.

On 21 January, the Central Electoral Commission of Gagauzia announced that the elections could not be held. The reason was the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, which admitted the appeal submitted by the Territorial Office of the State Chancellery in Comrat and suspended the application of the People’s Assembly Decisions No. 501 and No. 502 of 16 December 2025, which concerned the formation of the composition of Gagauzia’s electoral body.
