Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, clarified that the PAS government did not promise Moldova’s accession to the European Union by 2028, but rather the completion of accession negotiations, TRIBUNA reports.
“Our promise was and remains to prepare and finalize the negotiations by 2028. Accession itself takes a bit longer, until the agreement is ratified.
We aim to be ready to conclude the negotiations. We must know that we have done our homework and work diligently. Political circumstances in the European Union continue to evolve…,” he said on the TVR Moldova program “Punctul pe AZi.”
The Deputy Prime Minister added that even though negotiations have not yet been opened, citizens are already benefiting.
“Even as we await the opening of negotiation clusters, the benefits are already being felt,” the minister underlined.
Mihai Popșoi also noted that the Republic of Moldova has made remarkable progress in recent years in the process of European integration.
