CEC launches public call for proposals to amend the Electoral Code

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has issued a public call for submitting proposals to amend the Electoral Code and improve electoral procedures, with the aim of strengthening the regulatory framework and electoral practices in the Republic of Moldova. This initiative seeks, in particular, to enhance legislation and procedural mechanisms in order to respond more effectively to the risks identified during recent elections and to ensure the integrity, security, and transparency of future electoral processes, TRIBUNA reports.

“All electoral stakeholders are encouraged to take part in this process: political parties, central and local public authorities, civil society organizations, media institutions, as well as voters. Proposals should be drafted based on the experience of elections held between 2023 and 2025, the recommendations of election observation missions, the decisions of the Constitutional Court, and the need to align national electoral legislation with the legal framework and standards of the European Union.

The proposals received will be discussed during the Post‑Election Analysis Conference, which will take place on 19–20 February this year, an event organized by the Central Electoral Commission with the support of development partners,” the CEC stated.

In the next stage, following the consultations, the Commission will finalize a package of proposals to be submitted to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, with the aim of promoting, in accordance with established procedures, the draft law on amending the Electoral Code and related legislation.

Electoral stakeholders may submit their proposals to the Commission until 20 February 2026, at the email address: [email protected].
