Prime Minister in Hîncești: To build strong town halls, the Government is preparing a concept for local public administration reform

The priorities for regional development, the projects implemented thanks to Government investments, and the challenges faced by residents of local communities were discussed during a meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and the mayors and deconcentrated services of Hîncești district.

The Head of the Executive spoke about the measures taken by the authorities in the context of unfavorable weather conditions. State institutions are engaged in road clearing, ensuring traffic flow, and carrying out special interventions when needed. In Hîncești schools, classes are held with physical attendance, and the format for the coming days will be determined depending on weather developments.

“In both the energy sector and road administration, all institutions are operating in an emergency mode to ensure that the bad weather does not negatively affect citizens’ daily lives,” the Prime Minister underlined.

Another topic of discussion concerned the projects and investments carried out in recent years in Hîncești district. Approximately 220 million lei have been allocated by the Government for 57 projects implemented through the “European Village” Program. Efforts focused on modernizing the district hospital, repairing roads, improving water and sewage infrastructure, increasing energy efficiency, and renovating kindergartens, schools, parks, and street lighting.

The Prime Minister noted that, in order to bring more projects to local communities and build stronger town halls, the Government is preparing a concept for reforming local public administration, while also encouraging voluntary amalgamation: “We see the development of Hîncești district as a long‑term joint effort, and the voluntary amalgamation of localities remains an important tool for strengthening administrative capacity and accelerating local investments, leading to better services for citizens.”
