The Baltic States’ support for the Republic of Moldova’s European integration — including through sharing their own accession experience and providing expertise for the implementation of reforms — was reaffirmed during the meeting between Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and the Speakers of Parliament from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania: Lauri Hussar, Daiga Mieriņa, and Juozas Olekas.
The Prime Minister noted that the Republic of Moldova and the Baltic States share a history marked by similar experiences and challenges, as well as common values and the same strategic objective: integration into the European family.
“We will continue turning this solidarity into as many concrete actions as possible, for the benefit of our citizens, bringing the Republic of Moldova step by step closer to its rightful place in the European Union,” stated Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu.
For their part, the heads of the Baltic parliaments praised Moldova’s progress on the path toward EU membership and the reforms that are improving the quality of life for its citizens.
The interlocutors also discussed the regional political situation, efforts to counter Russian interference and disinformation, the importance of the local public administration reform recently launched by the Government in Chișinău, as well as investment opportunities for companies from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania on the Moldovan market.
