Parliament launches the 2026 spring parliamentary session

This week, plenary sittings and meetings of the standing committees are scheduled. The Parliament will also host two official visits, TRIBUNA reports.

The session opens with the official visit of the Speakers of the Baltic States’ parliaments. Today, after the meeting with the Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu, the dignitaries will hold a joint press conference. On Tuesday, 3 February, the inaugural sitting of the spring session will take place, with the participation of the Speaker of the Riigikogu of Estonia, Lauri Hussar, the Speaker of the Saeima of Latvia, Daiga Mieriņa, and the Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, Juozas Olekas. The parliamentary leaders of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will deliver speeches during the solemn sitting.

Between 4–5 February, Parliament will host rapporteurs from the Venice Commission, who will gather information to prepare the opinion on Law No. 100/2025, which amends several normative acts to strengthen the fight against electoral corruption.

On Wednesday, 4 February, the Committee on European Integration will hold a meeting to present the progress made by the Republic of Moldova in the EU accession process.

On Thursday, 5 February, MPs will convene in a plenary sitting to examine a series of legislative initiatives. Throughout the week, preliminary discussions with representatives of all parliamentary factions are also planned regarding the reform of local public administration.

According to the Parliament’s Rules of Procedure, the spring session begins in February and cannot extend beyond the end of July.
