Moldovan–Austrian partnership benefits and ways to deepen cooperation discussed by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and Austria’s Ambassador Stella Avallone. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu expressed gratitude for Austria’s support in Moldova’s EU accession process and for its contribution to economic growth — both key priorities for the Government in Chișinău. Austria ranks among the top ten foreign investors in the Republic of Moldova, with 93 Austrian‑capital companies currently operating in the country.
During the meeting, Ambassador Stella Avallone noted that an increasing number of Austrian companies are interested in expanding their presence on the Moldovan market, highlighting the improved investment climate and the reforms implemented in recent years, which enhance the country’s attractiveness for business. She emphasized in particular the interest of Austrian companies already active in Romania in extending their operations to the Republic of Moldova.
The officials also discussed strengthening cooperation in areas such as education, culture, healthcare, and renewable energy. The regional geopolitical situation was also addressed, including recent developments in Ukraine — a country fighting for the security of the entire European continent. In this context, Prime Minister Munteanu underlined Moldova’s potential future role as a logistical corridor to support the reconstruction of the neighboring state.
