Government Updates: Authorities Continue to Act in a Coordinated Manner

The Government provides new updates regarding the situation caused by adverse weather conditions. Responsible authorities continue coordinated actions to clear the roads and ensure public safety.

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, the entire country is experiencing rainfall and dense fog. In many areas, visibility is 200 meters or less. A Yellow Weather Warning is in effect from January 28, 13:00, to January 29, 13:00.

National and local roads have been treated with anti‑skid materials. So far, 84 road maintenance vehicles and 89 workers of the National Road Administration have intervened nationwide, spreading approximately 549 tons of anti‑skid material. Road traffic is taking place under winter conditions.

To prevent ice formation, maintenance work has been carried out on about 70 road segments — both major national routes and regional roads in the districts of Briceni, Nisporeni, Dubăsari, Drochia, Șoldănești, Călărași, Criuleni, Florești, Sănătăuca, Cimișlia, Căinari, Ștefan Vodă, Anenii Noi, Basarabeasca.

Over the past 24 hours, several road segments were affected by fallen trees. Teams from Soroca and Criuleni intervened to clear the roadway.

Chișinău International Airport is operating normally. Runways are cleared, and flights are landing and taking off without disruptions.

According to Premier Energy and RED‑NORD, as of January 28, 22:00, due to precipitation and ice deposits, six localities in three districts are partially disconnected from electricity, affecting 1,691 consumers:
— Criuleni district: Rîșcova, Stețcani, Miclești, Ișnovăț;
— Dubăsari district: Marcăuți;
— Orhei district: Izvoare.
Specialized teams are working on reconnection.

Between 28.01.2026, 06:00 and 29.01.2026, 05:30, the following weather‑related calls were registered:
• 112 Service – 45;
• General Police Inspectorate – 35;
• General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations – 10;
• National Road Administration – 11.

In the last 24 hours, medical teams received 576 emergency trauma calls.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs deployed:
• 72 Carabineer officers with 9 vehicles;
• 317 emergency responders with 87 special vehicles;
• 976 police officers with 399 patrol units.
In total, 1,365 personnel and 495 vehicles were mobilized.

Rescue and firefighting teams continue to operate 24/7 nationwide. Citizens are urged to exercise caution, follow meteorological warnings, and call 112 in risky situations. Drivers are advised to proceed with increased caution, adjust speed to road conditions, maintain safe distance, and ensure vehicles are properly equipped for winter travel.
