The Mayor of Chișinău, Ion Ceban, has asked the Government to allow people to stay home for a day, TRIBUNA reports.
“We decided that children should stay home today as well. I want to be honest with people and with all residents: our workers haven’t slept — they haven’t even had time to rest.
Even though two hours ago the streets were cleared and treated multiple times with anti-skid material, after two hours a new layer of ice formed on top. And this is the situation across the entire country. People’s health and safety are the most important, and we ask citizens not to go outside unless it is an emergency,” the mayor emphasized.
He also stated that starting from 5:00 a.m., he called all Government officials and top state representatives.
“A few minutes ago, I spoke with one of the responsible officials. I am counting on everyone’s understanding and professionalism.
Meanwhile, special services — where people also work — continue to intervene without interruption.
We ask citizens to be extremely cautious,” he added.
