Most deputies in the Parliament of the 12th legislature are lawyers and economists. In total, 41 MPs fall into these categories: 22 with legal studies and 19 with economic studies, TRIBUNA reports.
Lawyers represent the largest professional group. The “Action and Solidarity Party” parliamentary faction has 11 MPs with legal education, the “Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova” has 6, the “Our Party” faction has 2, while the “Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova”, “Alternativa”, and “Democrația Acasă” each have one lawyer.
The second most represented profession among MPs is that of economist. The “Action and Solidarity Party” faction includes 7 economists, while the factions of the “Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova”, the “Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova”, and “Alternativa” each have 4.
Additionally, 18 MPs have pedagogical studies. Another 9 are engineers, 5 are historians, and 4 are journalists. The Parliament of the 12th legislature also includes MPs with backgrounds in political science, security, medicine, psychology, management, sociology, arts, agronomy, and other fields.
Geographically, the majority of MPs — over 60% — reside in the municipality of Chișinău. Another 15 deputies come from northern districts such as Edineț, Fălești, Drochia, Soroca, Briceni, Sîngerei, and the municipality of Bălți. The central region is represented by 11 MPs from Ialoveni, Anenii Noi, Călărași, Nisporeni, Ungheni, Criuleni, Telenești, and Rezina. Additionally, 13 MPs come from southern districts — Cahul, Căușeni, Leova, Cimișlia, Cantemir, Ștefan Vodă — as well as from the ATU Gagauzia. In total, Parliament includes deputies originating from more than 20 districts.
