The French National Assembly has adopted the draft law authorizing the approval of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the French Republic on the reciprocal exchange of driving licences, signed in Paris on 12 July 2024, TRIBUNA reports.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Agreement provides for the reciprocal exchange of category B driving licences issued from 1 January 2020 onwards, without the need to take additional exams. For licences issued before this date, a prior exchange for national models compliant with current standards is required.
The Agreement is expected to enter into force after the law is promulgated. Subsequently, the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the French Republic, together with the competent institutions of both states, will publicly communicate the technical and procedural details regarding the implementation of the mechanism for the recognition and exchange of driving licences.
