The Presidium of the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia (PAG) will meet on Monday, January 26, for an emergency session following the suspension of the activity of the Gagauz Electoral Commission and the blocking of the elections for the People’s Assembly, TRIBUNA reports.

Information on the decisions adopted and the subsequent actions of the legislative body will be provided additionally.

It is recalled that today the Central Electoral Commission of Gagauzia announced that holding the elections for deputies to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, scheduled for March 22, 2026, is currently impossible. The reason is the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, which upheld the appeal submitted by the Territorial Office of the State Chancellery in Comrat and suspended the implementation of People’s Assembly Decisions No. 501 and No. 502 of December 16, 2025, concerning the formation of the composition of Gagauzia’s electoral body.
