Prime Minister Chairs Plenary Meeting of the Economic Council: “The Government’s priority remains ensuring sustainable economic growth”

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu chaired the plenary meeting of the Economic Council, which brought together representatives of the business community and the research sector. Participants discussed the current economic situation, the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, and the Council’s priorities for 2026, TRIBUNA reports.

The Head of Government emphasized that the Government’s objective remains ensuring sustainable economic growth, increasing productivity and competitiveness through coherent policies for the business environment. The Prime Minister also noted that a high‑quality public‑private dialogue must become a key factor in economic growth and reset, and that the role of the Economic Council should evolve from a general consultative platform to an interactive partnership supporting balanced economic policies — those that encourage entrepreneurship without undermining the public interest and societal well‑being.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the priorities for the upcoming period, including reducing bureaucratic barriers, digitalizing services for companies, lowering administrative burdens, and launching a permanent working group within the Economic Council dedicated to the development of the agri‑food sector.

Established in 2011, the Economic Council aims to facilitate dialogue between the business community, donors, and policymakers, fostering a transparent and investment‑friendly business environment. The platform brings together 148 members from various sectors — business associations, public authorities, research centers, academia, and international organizations.
