Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi held a phone conversation with the UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Yvette Cooper. The discussion focused on strengthening Moldova–UK cooperation in strategic areas under the Defence and Security Partnership, as well as advancing economic collaboration through initiatives aimed at bringing business communities closer together.

Minister Popșoi thanked the United Kingdom for its close cooperation and its role as a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova, including its support for the country’s development and for efforts to ensure regional security.

The officials also addressed cooperation within the Council of Europe, in the context of Moldova’s Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers. Mihai Popșoi invited Yvette Cooper to attend the Committee of Ministers session to be held in Chișinău in May 2026.

The two foreign ministers agreed to continue their dialogue and cooperation in areas of shared interest.
